It is official, we have had the wettest autumn ever (in some areas of the UK!). Notably South Yorkshire has been the worst hit this time with flooding of many houses the result. Strangely Scotland has actually been drier than average over the last three months.
The effect on Equine Sport has not been minimal either with many events being cancelled on safety grounds due to the wet going- notably the entire Pony Club Championships, due to take place in August, was one of the early casualties of this extreme in wet weather conditions.
Here at Horsevents.co.uk we have felt the brunt of weather with many events cancelling or postponing due to the inclement conditions- we in fact saw 14% of all events cancel in September- a record for what should still be a "Summer" month! We have only seen percentages higher than that in the midst of bad winters like 2014 and 2015.
We are hoping the worst of it is behind us now, and although much grassland still remains too wet to ride on there are plenty of arena surfaces about to mean that, unless we get another Beast from the East like in 2018, there will be plenty of events for you to enter over the Winter.
Enjoy!
